TRAVEL: Ice Cream, Dumplings and Pickles in NYC

Last weekend I had a bridal shower in New York City. E decided to tag along a meet up with some of his college friends. After the bridal shower E, along with his friends, met me for an afternoon of exploring. There were some new places that I had discovered that I was DYING to check out…

Coat: J.Crew, Boots: Stuart Weitzman, Bag: Rebecca Minkoff

If you read my blog regularly you know that E and I spent some time in Japan last year and came back fans of everything Japanese. So when I heard that Muji was opening up in New York City I knew I HAD to check it out. When we were in Japan I stocked up on pens and stationary. Over the last year my supply has dwindled, so on Sunday I was able to stock up again! So many neon pens to be had! They also have clothing as well. Unfortunately I didn’t have as much time to look around as I would have liked. But not to worry… I will be back soon!

During New York Fashion Week, one of my favorite bloggers, Gal Meets Glam, posted about her trip to 10 Below. It looked so interesting and delicious!

10 Below serves Thai inspired ice cream rolls. All of their ice cream is made to order. They literally make it right in front of you! It is pretty amazing to watch.

They have so many different flavor combinations! I chose Key Lime Pie and E chose the Matcha Made In Heaven (He is a green tea addict). We both topped ours with roasted marshmallows and strawberries. While it was a little chilly on Sunday, we found a nice spot in the sun and enjoyed our special treats. DELICIOUS!

I LOVE MURALS. And in Little Italy, right around Mott Street, they are EVERYWHERE.

And you all know how much E, my Instagram Husband, feels about murals…

Tired of our wandering, we stopped into The Belfry for their “$5 Picklebacks.” I LOVE PICKLES but the thought of drinking pickle juice kind of grosses me out. E and his friends ordered picklebacks while I ordered a beer and some house-made pickles. The pickles were AMAZING. I would definitely go back just for those. E really liked the way salty and sour brine cut through the bourbon. I think I will stick to eating pickles and drinking beer!

TRAVEL: Ice Cream, Dumplings and Pickles in NYCLast Stop: Vanessa’s Dumpling House

As if we didn’t eat enough that day, E’s friends mentioned that there was a pretty good and very cheap dumpling house right next door to The Belfry. We had to try it. Obviously. I ordered some vegetable dumplings (of course) and E ordered chicken and basil dumplings. Both of us were very happy with our choices! I also got a taro milk bubble tea – I had a hankering and it made me miss Jaho in the South End of Boston.

One AMAZING thing about this place is that they sell frozen dumplings that you can make at home. I wish I had enough freezer space for them…NEXT TIME!
